How do renewals work?
Simple answer
A renewal continues a permission you already hold, when that product offers renewal. It is not automatic, and it is not the same as an extension of a short visit pass.
What it means
Some long-stay passes can be renewed if you still meet the criteria; others require a fresh application or an upgrade path.
