What is the difference between visa validity and length of stay?
Simple answer
Visa validity is the window during which you may use the visa to travel and seek entry. Length of stay is how long you may remain after you are admitted. They are not the same number.
What it means
A visa might be valid for months, while each entry only allows a shorter stay. Overstaying the admitted period is the risk — even if the visa sticker still shows a later date.
What you may need to do
Read both dates/conditions on your visa and on any arrival pass. Plan exit or extension against the stay permission, not only the visa expiry.
Country / visa warning
This distinction is critical and widely misunderstood. Singapore’s ICA states clearly that period of stay is not tied to visa validity and is determined by the Visit Pass / e-Pass on entry. Other destinations use different labels but often separate the same ideas.
Next action
Read the Singapore overlay if you are travelling there, and always check your own destination’s arrival pass or stamp conditions.
