My passport expires within 12 months — is that a problem?
Simple answer
It might be — if the destination’s validity rule or your planned stay would take you past what that authority accepts. Twelve months left is not automatically “fine” or “not fine” for every visa.
What it means
Longer-stay visas, multiple-entry visas, and airline boarding rules can all be stricter than a short holiday trip. A passport that is fine for a one-week visit may be too short for a long-stay application.
What you may need to do
Compare your passport expiry date with the destination’s published validity rule and your intended stay. If you are close to the line, renewing before you apply is often simpler than changing passports mid-process.
Country / visa warning
Do not copy another traveller’s advice from a different nationality or destination. Check the product you are actually applying for.
Next action
If you are unsure, renew first or ask through your application checklist / panel professional after a case is allocated — and still verify against official guidance.
