Can I apply from my home country, from abroad, or in-country?
Simple answer
It depends on the destination, the visa product, your nationality, where you are living now, your immigration status there, and whether biometrics, originals, or an interview are required. There is no generic yes or no.
What it means
Some routes only accept applications from residents of certain countries; some are fully online; some need an embassy visit; some allow in-country conversion or extension only for people already holding a particular status.

Check the official application channel for your nationality and current location. Do not assume a friend who applied from a different country used a path open to you.
