What is proof of accommodation?
Simple answer
Proof of accommodation shows where you plan to stay — such as a hotel booking, host invitation, or lease — when the authority asks for it.
What it means
It supports the credibility of your itinerary. Some products accept flexible bookings; others want a named address for the whole period.
What you may need to do
Provide what the checklist specifies. Avoid fake reservations. If staying with family, use the invitation format they ask for.
Country / visa warning
Not every visa asks for accommodation proof, and formats differ. Check your product rather than copying a tourist checklist.
Next action
Follow the accommodation line on your visa checklist before you pay for non-refundable stays.
