Do I need originals or copies of my documents?
Simple answer
Many applications start with clear digital uploads, but some authorities later ask to see originals, certified copies, or posted documents. The mix depends on the visa — there is no single rule.
What it means
Online portals often need scans first. Border or embassy processes may still require you to present the physical passport or certificates. “Upload” does not always mean “originals are never needed”.
What you may need to do
Upload sharp, complete scans when asked. Keep originals safe and readable. If a checklist says originals must be posted or shown, follow that instruction for that route only.
Country / visa warning
Requirements differ by destination, visa product, and whether you apply online, at an embassy, or in-country. Do not generalise from one country’s process.
Next action
Follow the checklist on your application. If originals may need to be posted, SojournHub will say so on that route — they are returned when no longer required where that service applies.
